I grew up loving cars. I could tell you the year, make, and model of pretty much every car I saw that was manufactured after World War II and before about 1985, which is when I graduated high school. After that, I sort of lost the trail. I could tell that I was looking at, say, a Honda Accord and knew which generation it belonged to, but was seldom sure what years bounded that generation. This monthly Old Cars Parked feature is, at last, helping me learn the cars from the late 80s to today. Because changes are subtle within generations now, I may never be able to pin down what year that fifth-generation Accord is, but I know that the model years are 1994 to 1998, with a facelift in 1996 that changed the front fascia and widened the tail lights. I call this a net positive for me. I feature a car here when it is/could be more than 20 model years old and I found it parked on the street or in a lot, but not in a car show.
