Prymek & Sage - ShelterDue to various circumstances, I missed a recent/rare duo performance from Chaz “Lake Mary” Prymek and Matt “M. Sage” Sage this month — just minutes from my house, even! C'est la vie, I guess. But however frustrating that was, I can’t feel frustrated when I hit play on the terrific new Prymek & Sage record. These two have been making music together in an array of configurations for more than a decade now, most recently in the wondrous Fuubutsushi collective; Shelter might be their best collab yet, a gorgeous meditation that works best as a complete listening experience, rather than just a collection of tunes. Pastel piano chords and glistening guitar, warm woodwinds and burbling synths, sunkissed pedal steel and wafting harmonica … With these ingredients, Chaz and Matt give us a breath of fresh air transformed into pure sound.
