Recently, I've been feeling like a browser with 101 tabs running concurrently. Incomplete tasks, pending deadlines, fresh ideas all tumbling around in my head. The end result - a constant gnawing away at my mind. On a whim, I decided to get the stuff in my head out onto the page, so that I know in concrete terms what I'm dealing with. I took out a notebook and started listing out all my to-do items under 3 categories: home (chores, errands etc to run), personal (things to consider or do for myself), and work (as the name implies). I also found all the small bits of paper where I had scribbled to-dos and sorted them out according to those categories. There's still more in my head, but just having done this much has already contributed to a greater sense of ease. Of course, there's still the doing left, but it's easier to handle tasks that are externalised as opposed to fretting over wispy thoughts swirling inside my head. No fancy software required.
