Me and my partner are heading to Italy in a couple of months, she made the decision to learn a bit of the language using Duolingo and mentioned it to me. I absolutely agreed it was a great idea and so I've also been learning Italian. But, I've also been using it to learn Maths and Chess, I've always liked the idea of learning Chess, although I confess that I do want to learn more about Go than Chess, but I'll take what I can get. I've never really thought much about learning languages (or much of anything else) until recently. After my last post wondering where to go in my career, a thought that has commonly been coming to me is whether I should go back into education and get another degree. Perhaps this time, I'd do it right rather than sticking with a degree I wasn't passionate about and didn't get a good grade in (see here for more thoughts on that).
