In my experience, replies and comments outpace emails in dimensions like availability, frequency, and speed. With the former, there's much less thoughts about whether I will receive feedback or when I will. Even if certain touchpoints don't receive feedback, there are enough touchpoints available such that fun and/or meaningful conversations can be had. But wait, there's more! I have found that, with the right people, replies and comments even have more depth compared to emails. Sure, they may not span as much overall time as email exchanges (if those can even be conjured in the first place). However, the right people will carry your shared conversation through to its natural conclusion hours or days from its origin. Multiple exciting conversations as such in the span of waiting for an email can make for satisfying virtuous cycles and even creative inspiration to boot.
