We weren't sure if we'd ever get another chance to see them after we bailed early from the disastrous 2023 Blue Ridge Rock Fest↗, but we managed to catch an Electric Callboy show in Nashville this past week. It was fantastic. I know I whined recently about arena shows and emphasized about how much we prefer smaller venues. I was a little anxious going to an Electric Callboy show knowing that the band does have a bit of a reputation for spectacle. I needn't have worried. This turned out to be a super fun show. Scene Queen The evening started with a set from Scene Queen↗, a slim blonde woman who pranced on stage wearing a pink top, denim shorts, and shiny pink cowboy boots to request (nay, demand!) a twerkle pit. Which is all the sweaty guys in the pit getting low and shaking their posteriors. She went on to deliver a delightful bimbocore set blending hyperfeminine vocals, metalcore breakdowns, and rather explicit social commentary. This set was full of some of the dumbest music I've…
