Design fads

Not surprisingly, Apple is pulling the plug on their silly VR goggles or whatever they’re called. At least they didn’t rename the company after the goggles. But, Apple did sacrifice the usability of their main products, phones and computers, for the sake of a virtual-reality aesthetic in the whole liquid glass thing. Clearly, both Facebook and Apple leadership expected goggles to be the future of computers. They were wrong. Many of the same people thought the blockchain would be the future. Many of these people are watching video tutorials made by some mindless engagement farmer about writing “AI” prompts, as they are convinced that LLMs are the way of the future. I was at the dentist this morning and thought of asking the guy cleaning my teeth if he appreciated how wonderful it was to, presumably, never have had his boss as how he’s integrating AI into his workflow.
