One Piece Grand Battle Swan Colosseum: Big fights on a tiny screen

I have to be honest with you: I know next to nothing about One Piece. I can point out all of the most obvious characters and even correctly name a few of them, but beyond that I’m completely lost. But if I’m never going to read the manga or watch the anime (or the movies. Or the live-action TV show), why would I choose to buy something full of anime pirates doing anime pirate things? It’s simple: the game’s just that good. This WonderSwan Color/Crystal exclusive is a 1-v-1 fighting game, but unlike many others every battle in here takes place within arenas that are just a bit larger—vertically and horizontally—than the screen that are more often than not decorated with multiple platforms of varying sizes to jump on and feature occasional item spawns to pick up. This seemingly small change immediately transforms clashes into something more chaotic. I can dash off so far I leave my opponent out of sight and then smash open a chest, grabbing the healing item/throwable sleep…
