This started as a study of this GIF, which I used for the very first What Else Is On?, and whose origin I truly cannot find. From there, I decided to turn it into a series showing the evolution of "surfin'," with each successive piece taking a format closer and closer to full vertical. As I said, this started as a study of a GIF I've had kicking around for years, really just an exercise in making a very simple thing relatively quickly, but once I started playing with color, and eventually dither, I ended up finding a look I really loved, and thought could support a series rather than just one piece. If there's one thing you gotta know about me and my style, it's that I'm a fiend for some dither, some crunch, and some jittery movement. I don't think I've ever tackled a triptych or series like this before, and I'm very happy with the result overall! I think you can see an evolution and/or experimentation with style in certain places from start to finish, and it's always hard to avoid…
