Here’s a post that’s been doing the rounds: who knows that you blog? A few people have answered. Like most of them, the answer is a good amount of people, but the amount of people who read it is likely significantly lower. Of the people i know in real life, i know that three of them pay attention to what i post here. Hello! Digital communities are a good way to meet people who have shared interests. Like most people, i have quite a few niche interests, and blathering on about them to my friends in real life is not a hugely social thing to do. This doesn’t mean that i self-censor: i’m lucky enough to be surrounded by people who are willing to listen to me talk about my passions, as i am happy to listen to them talk about theirs, but in both cases we have to try and speak at a level such that the other person can engage somewhat, which tends to mean that discussions end up being rather surface level. One of the reasons i keep this blog is to allow me to share my thoughts on anything…
