Claude Code Statusline: Model, Context, Cost & Rate Limits in One Line

The Claude Code statusline is a shell script that renders at the bottom of your terminal on every tool call and user turn. By default it shows almost nothing. You can point it at a script and render whatever you want to show your current model, context usage, session cost, and plan limits. The thing I actually needed to know while working: how full is my context window, and how deep am I into my session. Both matter for how you use the tool. A session at 12% context with 4 hours left on your rate limit is a very different situation from one at 78% context with 20 minutes left. Without that information visible, you’re flying blind — spending tokens on the wrong things, hitting limits you didn’t see coming, or starting a new session when you didn’t need to. This statusline makes all of it visible, passively, on every turn.
