So for a while now, I've had a read-only Twitter account, which is basically a Twitter that I used to browse and to troll and to not engage directly under my own name, but in the past couple of months, I've watched the platform turn into a place where every time I open it, I can feel my cortisol rising in a way that feels like it can only drive towards a wounded form of existence.I always knew the website was heading in an unreliable and unuseful direction. Now, the 10% of memes that are pretty funny and found only on Twitter are overwhelmed by the discourse, which is heavily led by these hateful souls who are on the right pretty much exclusively. Even though there's infighting between the right and the left, the rhetoric is so abhorrent that I just needed to step away permanently.What's most concerning, perhaps, is that the rhetoric and discourse on Twitter don't even bother to reflect reality. For the people who spend their time on the website, they are getting more and more…
