We’re about to embark on a month-long trip to Southern Germany, allowing our kids to see some real mountains for the first time. I knew we had picked the right travel destination a couple of days ago, when our four-year-old son walked up a small hill and called it “a big mountain.” That mistake is understandable, considering that the highest elevation in Berlin is barely 115 meters. But I can't wait to see his face when we show him the Alps! Because we’re still on paternity leave and our daughter isn’t yet in kindergarten, we can afford to be on the road for most of June, which feels so luxurious. We’ll travel slowly, by car, stopping multiple times along the way to see friends and family and giving ourselves the opportunity to explore the regions we’re passing through. To make the most of this adventure, and to fully immerse myself in it, I’ve decided to leave my computer at home. This will also give me an opportunity to reflect on this blog and the role it should play in my life…
