This post isn't going to be about the typical criticisms of generative AI, but a specific experience I've had (semi-)recently that made me realize another downside of it. -- A couple of months ago I was going to participate in a game jam that ultimately I had to bow out of after not having had the time to prepare properly. (More on my relationship with game jams in the coming days...) But on day one, when I was still full of enthusiasm, I was happy to discover that a game dev I'm following on Twitch was participating in the same jam. I don't watch them all that often, typically they are working on a game they have been working on for years, in a game engine I am interested, and have some experience in, but, I am not a really developer or programmer.
