We are a decidely unserious country acceding to the demands of a child. I’m spending the week helping with the grandkids who make completely unserious demands at the drop of a hat. It may not be fun to break a heart in the moment, but it’s better than not saying “no.” Of course the grandkids move on in the blink of an eye. Unlike the supposed adults who carry and act out on grudges. I think it’s time we retired the phrase “adults in the room.” You can also find more of my writings on a variety of topics on Medium at this link, including in the publications Ellemeno and Rome. I can also be found on social media under my name as above. This site does not use affilate links.
