I have noted before that there seems to be a fair bit of lasting affection out there for The Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols, a booklet of Halloween-related lyrics for famed tunes that Hallmark put out in the 1960s and redesigned and reissued a few times. It’s clear that Chronicle Books wants to tap the spirit of that booklet and pump it up a bit for this fall’s Peanuts: Great Pumpkin Carols book. Now, this is not a reprint of the old booklet with its old songs. Instead, it has new ones written by Daniel Kibblesmith, who has written both comic books and books about comics (hey, like me!) as well as being part of the Emmy-nominated writing team on The Late Show with Steve Colbert (hey, not at all like me!) He’s put forth 30 songs in this 76 page book. When I type this, you can’t yet preorder it at Amazon (but check; by the time you read this, perhaps you can), but the list price is supposed to be $16.99.
