Is it a good sign (for the book business) that three years after selling Simon & Schuster, Paramount is getting into books once again? Well, of course they could just be crazy wrong, but I can’t help seeing the move as a positive sign. As Today in Books tells it “They’re set to launch Paramount Global Publishing this year , which will incorporate Paramount’s intellectual property into new stories that will appear in print, audio, and digital formats, and stretch across genres and age demographics.” Amy Kaplan Jarashow will be in charge of Paramount Global Publishing. Previously she was Director of Lego Publishing (North America). Let us all wish her good fortune, especially we pensioners! These last three years have seen vigorous expansion in the popular book business, so it’s not really too surprising a move.
