As with eras past, the tech sector has come out with its fancy new technology, and companies have made it the Frank's Red Hot of their product lines. Before "AI" it was blockchain, and before that it was the cloud. "Cloud" was at least a good marketing term that hadn't existed in that space before, and indicated more or less what it did. AI had precedent, however, and it does not (in my opinion) really give you a good idea of what it does. Also, AI has too many meanings. In my understanding, as a user of the internet, a gamer, and a former student of computer science, the term "artificial intelligence" is an umbrella term for anything that aims to mimic the action of an intelligent being. My favorite example is NPCs in a video game using a finite state machine to decide what actions to take based on current data. Other types of artificial intelligence might use machine learning techniques to recognize patterns and make predictions, or use an evolutionary algorithm to, I don't know,…
