Margaret and I recently spent a Sunday afternoon photographing a hockey game. Roberts Camera, our local photography store, offered this event with the promise of teaching us some fundamentals of sports photography and the camera settings for best success. I was eager for this opportunity because my photography focus is things that don’t move: old roads, old buildings, old (parked) cars. I love those subjects and will continue to focus on them. But to learn a few things about sports photography and have a fun afternoon doing it seemed like a no-brainer. The game was Indy Fuel vs. Fort Wayne Komets, on the Fuel’s home rink. Margaret and I have enjoyed several Fuel games over the years. Neither of us knows the first thing about the sport, but that never gets in the way of the games being a lot of fun to watch.
