This piece at Inc.com says that Apple’s popular MacBook Neo is for people just like me, who only need a computer to do computer things. It’s an “appliance” that must be affordable, first and foremost. It must also be simple yet capable at basic computer tasks, like a smartphone, but better. And like an iPad, but better. “For years, Apple has sold iPads to people who wanted a simple, capable, affordable computer…” I’m one of those people. Capable The author goes on to say the MacBook Neo removes the “asterisk” of the iPad — its mobile OS limitations — because macOS is a full desktop system. (Though he also says the Neo has its own asterisks, like USB 2.0, which are acceptable for the kind of person the Neo is made for.) The whole point of the article is that the Neo is a Mac that’s affordable, simple, and capable for basic tasks that most people need to do.
