Similar to the “All the Cameras” post I wrote last year, this post lists all the radios I’ve owned or used since I first got my license back in 1984. My Dad’s I was 12 when I got my Novice class license, and it would be a while before I could own my own gear. The are the radios I used when I was just starting out. I got my General and Advanced class licenses is 1985 and ‘86, resepectively, and then got active on 2 meters too. | ||| |-|:-|:-| | | Heathkit HW-8 | CW-only QRP rig that I used only very briefly | | | Drake TR7 | My dad LOVED this radio and he was very proud of it. I never liked (or appreciated) it that much though. | | | Heathkit HW-2036A | 2 meter PLL transceiver that my dad built from a kit. He also modified it so we could use a Commodore 64 (with Microlog AIR-1 interface card) to connect to local ham radio bulletin board systems using FSK. | Note: My friend Christopher WX3A has much of my dad’s gear now, including the TR7 station and the 2036A, and is giving it the love…
