Whenever the subject of Baltimore is raised here on the Tribunal, you know I’m going to reference The Wire, perhaps the greatest TV show ever made. So far I have not had many opportunities, but between the local Italian sub called The Scooch and the slightly more notable regional roast beef sandwich called Pit Beef, the subject has arisen a few times in these pages. In that piece on The Scooch, I mentioned crab cakes and Natty Boh beer specifically, though the most memorable reference to crabcakes in the show pairs them with a case of Heineken, when Jimmy McNulty bribes a pair of uniforms to stake out the boarded-up row home where Wallace has been staying.
