I finally finished the first season of The Pitt

I started watching this when it came out, but fell off after a particularly "after-school special" kind of scene. That's the most interesting part of this show, to me - it ping pongs wildly back and forth between stuff with the sensibility of "prestige" modern television... and very throwbacky stuff. It's kind of charming that way? Anyway, I'm glad I went back to it. I am participating in A Cultural Television Moment for the first time in years. I don't watch much television anymore because it takes so much time! I usually think that I can spend that time better. Anyway, I broke my usual prohibition against long form television specifically because of how pacey the show is. The back half has a lot of scenes where someone screams, "no!! Don't do it!! You're gonna kill him!!" And then someone responds "no... this is the only thing that will SAVE him!!" Extremely classic medical drama stuff. Anyway, the show is both extremely compelling and fast and also quite silly. Nothing like a show…
