I've recently taken up the ink and started scribbling again. very amateurishly, obviously, but that’s ok. In a time when ai seems to be infecting every thought, feeling, and behaviour, drawing anything, however poorly, feels like going against the grain. That’s my group of ghouls in ink and water soluble graphite. I really like the look of the graphite. It adds some depth and textural interest, otherwise it's just my scribbly black ink. I'm really bloody tired of ai. I see a good use case for it in science research and medicine, but the hype around it is unbearable. I think the bubble will burst at some point and it won't be quite the game changer that so many people expect, but who knows? I can't even talk to someone who really likes it and uses it. I know people who love it because it allows them to sound like they know how to write. I can't help but think that outsourcing thinking is a slippery slope to grift and lazy thinking.
