a large downed tree across the Sandy River It’s our third anniversary next week so Tim and I absconded this weekend up towards Mt. Hood, to smell the crisp tree air and do as little as possible. It was a cozy lil trip, spent reading, puzzling, and hiking. I finally finished reading The Salvage! (It was fine, 3/5 stars.) Our cabin was just a short walk away from the Sandy river, so we spent some time wandering the shores there, looking for migrating ducks and geese and hunting for good rocks. My favorite stop was the Wildwood Recreation Site to take the Wetlands Boardwalk Trail, which I would absolutely recommend. It was less than a mile long walk through the trees and marsh around the Salmon River and we saw red wing blackbirds, many many newts, and even a garter snake swimming through the marsh!
