Statue at Brookgreen GardensPentax H3, 50mm f/1.4 Super-TakumarFujifilm Neopan 400 (x/2015) @ EI 800Rodinal 1+252026 What a colossal error I made in rating this film at 800. I loaded it into this 1959 SLR on a foggy morning because I wanted the extra exposure margin. Then the fog cleared and I stuck with my rating because I didn’t want to lose the earlier photos. It had the effect of making me drag my feet to complete the roll. First photos in January, last photos in April. The H3 has no onboard meter so I mounted my Reflx Labs meter in the cold shoe. I made this photo twice — once metered for the highlights, again metered for the shadows. Unsurprisingly, the shadows shot won the day. Still, the statue is blown out. I have no idea now why I developed this roll in Rodinal. Gracious. This was a job for HC-110. Get more of my photography in your inbox or reader! Click here to subscribe.
