An extremely pleasant sort-of-holiday week here in sunny athens with my parents visiting. It was largely successful – we saw many sights and ate out at different tavernas every day. They’d not eaten a lot of greek food previously, and soon found they couldn’t get enough of it. Monday My Greek class was cancelled so we took a trip along the coast to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. 'byron' carved into a pillar of the temple The weather was great, visibility vast, and the warden proudly showed us where Lord Byron had carved his name into one of the columns. One of his least worst crimes. We stopped on the way back for a delicious lunch right over the sea at the Galene fish restaurant. Tuesday They explored the acropolis, syntagma square, and the national gardens, and saw the evzones and their funny shoes. Met them near where they were staying in Koukaki for dinner at O Lolos – imo the best place we ate all week. Terrific small plates and locals-taverna vibes. Will return! Wednesday…
