Let’s talk about the keel. This boat actually has two “keels,” plus a couple of bilge keels. But let’s ignore those bilge keels for now. The two keels are an inner keel and a “false keel”. The inner keel is just called the “keel” in the plans, although an inner keel is often called a keelson. Since Vivier refers to it as the keel, I’ll stick with that terminology. The false keel gets added after planking, and that’s the part that’ll actually stick down into the water.
