It feels like a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to go on a photo-walk. I can’t blame it on the weather, as we’ve had an abundance of pleasant and sunny days. Health issues, work, fuel costs, and unusually busy weekends have added extra friction to taking a drive with the camera bag. But yesterday, I had the chance to take out the Olympus C-808 Wide Zoom - a 2004 digital camera with not entirely comfortable ergonomics, a reputedly fantastic lens, and an 8 megapixel Sony-made sensor. Lighthouse at twilight With the recent daylight savings time change, there’s not much good light left at the end of each day. Going out late under a sky filled with thick clouds meant that the gloominess was going to challenge an old digital camera. Most photos were made between an F-stop of 3.2-3.5 and at ISOs between 200 and 400 - a zone for quite visible digital noise without intervention during editing. Fortunately, Lightroom offers very good noise reduction. It wasn’t easy to judge the quality…
