In one of his recent posts, Mike Monteiro says the line, "Never turn your escape pod into a utility closet." This resonated with me. I have made my hobby - making games - into how I pay my rent. (I have rent now! Because I made games so hard I could finally afford to move out!) What this means is both good and bad. Good: I finally moved out, something that I desperately needed to do. Bad: I feel as though I have forgotten how to make games for fun. Even my weird one off game ideas are huge and Marketable now. I tried to make a jam game and opened the project Once before going off to find something more interesting. I've made my escape pod into my utility closet, and I don't know if that means I need to make a new escape pod (should I take up birding??) or if I should clear out some of these brooms.
