Initial impressions about Titanium Court, which won a bunch of awards at the IGF this year: It looks stunning. The limited palette is really working here and the spritework is great. It sounds really, really good. There's a really fluent use of sound effects with dialogue, scene transitions, etc. What passes for "VFX" in this game is "pixel art renditions of stock images" and this is actually an incredible decision. It looks really weird and unique and good. To me, what the game does with mid-battle and mid-dialogue still, stock-art-esque imagery is absolutely the coolest thing about this game. I love it when games play with framing and visual context like this!! Hope to finish the game soon and have some more coherent thoughts about it! For now, this is what you're getting from me.
