if you're an artist, such as myself, it's natural to want to support your fellow artists. but that usually entails buying their art. but if you also make art for a living, that leaves you with a dilemma: is it better to just make art for yourself, or is it fine to buy someone else's art every once and a while? i had this thought after buying a construction paper cutout portrait of an owl at a vendor market: the artist goes by "Batcraft Creations" on facebook. go check out her work! i also have a sizeable collection of cassette tapes of local artists and friends' music, right here: you can find these artists, including Yea Big, Drazek Fuscaldo, Swim Ignorant Fire, kare.pkg, Creatian/Heap, and Webpage 505, on bandcamp. check them out; they're very talented! the point is, i bought these because i wanted to support other artists in their journey. they have to put food on the table just like i do. but why should i, an artist, buy someone else's art when i can just make it myself, you ask?…
