I actually don't believe we need to reach enlightenment in this or any particular lifetime. Not all of us, anyway. I think living all of it...even when you are bloody and bruised and lonely and desperate...expands the universe. I think the soul needs experience to evolve, not just wisdom. Wisdom is a nice byproduct though, for sure.
