Together with the kids, we are currently reading Lichterland. It’s a wonderful children’s book, which sadly hasn’t been translated to English (yet?). We’re already on the second book of the series and both adults and kids are enjoying the story and characters a lot. The second book starts with the main characters, Karla and Frederick, building a treehouse. An annoying candle-kobold is playing tricks on them and throwing away all their boards, so they call on the great magician Poklorius for help. The magician takes care of the candle-kobold and builds them a fabulous magical treehouse, with a colorful door, a rope ladder and a weathervane (with a glowy-snail instead of the usual cock). And of course recently, when a kindergarten friend was over to visit, they got it in their head that they were going to build a treehouse. 😬 I’ve been dreading this moment. Not because I’m a terrible builder (I am). Not because it’s costly (it is). Because we don’t own a tree. There are trees all around…
