I do have a growing list of quick hits and varia, but I’m heading to Florida for a while for my dad’s memorial service. My dad bought me my first camera — a Vivitar 9mm camera, if I recall — and my first serious SLR, a Niko N90s, and my first digital camera a Nikon D80. He was a serious amateur photographer who took thousands of photos in film and digital. When my dad’s health began to fail, I started to take more photographs. I didn’t really realize it at the time, but walking around taking photos in Greece (with Richard Rothaus) and in Grand Forks (often with my dog Argie) gave me a chance remember my dad not directly, but through doing something that he taught me to do and by enjoying something he enjoyed. I learned of my dad’s passing on Tuesday and that evening I went out for a long walk and took photos. Here are some of them:
