In a way, I carry my website with me wherever I go. Technically, my website is a few keystrokes away on my phone, but I think the presence of my website extends beyond the technical. Having a website encourages me to write, I think, because I know I have a place to put and share my writing. I take notes as I go throughout the world because I love writing, then I come home and ask “could I craft this into an essay?” 1 And so over time my website has accrued stories of bird song and coffee shops and ice cream in Tesco.My cadence for writing ebbs and flows. I often write in bursts; several days may pass where I mainly take notes, and then I start coalescing ideas into blog posts. In this way my blog moves from the background to the foreground and back – I take notes in the background, write for my blog, and then go back to taking notes. Days may pass where I don’t do anything with my blog because I’m working on another project, or am otherwise preoccupied. This has been true of late…
