Readership 24 April, 2026 Taking a page from the blog of Tom MacWright, I had LLM create a bit of JavaScript that redirects visitors from certain sites back the way they came. Why? As MacWright pointed out: I don’t like what Hacker News has become – or a lot of the web, for that matter. But I’m part of the discourse. I’ve written critical articles, mean tweets, silly comments, the whole lot of it. It’s impossible to separate one thing from another and neatly place blame. But it’s simple to notice a thing you want less of and turn it off. I feel the same way about several other so-called social sites, not just Hacker News. Since the inclusion of that script into these pages, I’ve been told that I’m pushing away more than a few potential readers. That may be true, but I’ll hazard a guess (for the most part, anyway) it actually isn’t the case. I’m sure that many of those potential readers won’t be in it for the longer haul. I doubt many of them would come back, whether that script…
