I really want to get to know and to like Zelazny's works. So, when I found Dilvish in the Little Library, I was excited. So, how was it? Not great, Bob. Not great. Dilvish, after fight with Jelerak, is locked in hell. Now he has escaped and wants revenge. And, well, this is all. He just goes from place to place, fights with someone, then goes to another place. I had the same issue with Amber Chronicles ideas are great, the characters are interesting, but it's not building anything. Zelazny simply throws things at the reader, mostly without any explanation. Even if those things are interesting, they are fully disjointed from everything else. This means that our Dilvish and his talking horse made of steel are not developing in any way though the story. You can start reading at any chapter, and go in any order. It doesn't matter as nothing adds up to anything else.
