At work I’m known for having great memory. I keep a lot of stuff in my head, maybe too much for my own good. And I personally don’t think that I have a very good memory at all. I’m prone to forgetting stuff, which is why I set phone alerts even for the most trivial things. So how does that fit together? 🤔 Let’s dissect this a bit. First of all, I do remember a lot of facts. But I’m terrible with names, numbers and only marginally better at faces. I’ll often see somebody on the street and have this vague feeling of having seen them before. Sometimes I’ll remember where that was and at times even their names might bubble up…but I’ve also put myself in that uncomfortable situation of greeting a total stranger, because their face just looked a bit similar to somebody else’s. A while back, I made the conscious decision to not remember names the first time I meet someone. Occasionally this bites me in the ass, but often enough it’s okay to go with “okay, person I’ll probably never meet…
