Previously on the Ramblings I’ve covered a number of books in Melville House Press’s FUTURES series; intriguing little essay books which explore a particular topic, the titles I’ve read have covered gardens, songwriting, travel and the self. Today I’m happy to kick off a blog tour for the latest release in the series, and it’s on a topic which is relevant to everyone – “The Future of Fraud” by Becky Holmes. Holmes has made a name for herself in the counter-fraud world, and as well as being the author of the popular “Keanu Reeves Is Not In Love With You”, she regularly ‘outs’ fraudsters online as well as providing her expertise to media and at conferences. Frauds and scams are something we all need to be wary of, and here Holmes looks back at the history of human beings tricking each other out of things, examines the current state of play, and looks forward to the effects that things like Deepfakes and AI will have on human interactions in the future.
