Increasingly, I have found myself starting to loathe Spotlight on my Mac. What should be the fastest, most reliable way to launch an app has become a bloated, slow process of constantly opening the wrong thing because I put too much trust in its ability to “learn” my preferences. When I slam ⌘+Space to open Spotlight and start typing “cam” in the hopes it will auto-complete to Camo Studio — an app I open and close daily, multiple times per day — the odds are high that it will instead try to open up Boot Camp Assistant or send a text message to a landlord I had in 2015 whose name also starts with “Cam.” This is not intelligent.This is not useful.Without getting too in the weeds: There are ways to fix this that involve reindexing Spotlight search, which I find does the job for… maybe a month or two before starting to become unreliable again.
