The Agent-Native Editor Was Invented in 1976

Integrating LLM completions and a chat UI does not make an editor agent-native. These features help users generate code with language models. But they miss the more important shift: coding agents have made bespoke software and custom tooling cheaper, faster, and easier than ever. Many so-called AI editors make this mistake twice over.
