Wednesday Today we decided to do different things. Our daughter went to Holkham Hall and we went to the National Trust Sizergh Castle. She was up and out well before we were - we didn't really get going until midday! It wasn't far for us to drive. When we got there we were astonished at how busy it was. But, once in the grounds it calmed down - I think there might have been a coach party that was leaving as we arrived. Sizergh Castle is a rambling place - not particularly big as far as National Trust places go, but it had been extended randomly over the centuries. The family still live there, but seems to have become steadily more impoverished since the 15th century. It was a shame that it was chilly with intermittent drizzle today, because it would have been nice to sit in the gardens and do some drawing.
