I’ve been thinking about coding my own KOReader Sync Server. At the moment I’m using a lightweight implementation by b1n4ryj4n, which has served me well for years. But recently I’ve been looking for a way to improve the interaction between my Xteink X4 and my ancient Kindle running KOReader. With the server I’m using, I’m stuck with the binary comparison of books, where a hash of the actual ebook is uploaded, instead of just comparing the book’s name. This prevents me from applying epub optimizations for the Xteink, which would obviously change the hash value of the resulting file. It’s not exactly that there are no options out there. There’s the official implementation, although I’m not touching that! While the project is seemingly still active, the official Docker container hasn’t been updated in 9 years!!! They didn’t even bother publishing a new one for their last release. 🤯 And then there are a few smaller projects, people who obviously thought the same thing I did and then…
