On my recent trip I noticed that most hotel chains have moved over to wall mounted toiletries in their bathroom areas. No longer will you find small bottles of shampoo and conditioner and body soap on the vanity; now there’s three pumps on the shower wall and heaven help you if hair of an unfamiliar color is attached to send bottles. I believe this trend started during COVID-19, which if you think about it, makes absolutely no sense. But here we are. Anything to save a buck. I also noticed the Hampton Inn now has signs posted detailing how to tip housekeeping using Venmo and other assorted electronic delivery methods. How about paying your housekeeping a living wage? Like many things in the United States in 2026, the hotel chains just seem to be getting weird. And no, I don’t know anyone with long black hair that may have been using the shampoo.
