Birkbeck College of the University of London will be eliminating its undergraduate program in philosophy, according to an email from the University’s Director of Student Services. The email states that the University has decided to stop admitting students into the philosophy BA program after the November 2026 session, and “the final academic year for the programme will be 2030-2031, with the last assessments scheduled for May 2031.” No explanation for elimination of the program was offered in that email, and it is not clear whether it is just the BA program in philosophy that is being slated for elimination, or whether philosophy graduate degrees programs, or programs in other disciplines, are also being cut.
