Google announced this week they’re going to revamp the way Google Search works. For a couple of decades you’ve typed a search word or phrase in a box and Google gave you a list of links of websites that closely match what you’re looking for. The experience has noticeably degraded over the past few years; they’re now focused on giving you a list of websites they *think* you’ll want to see, along with a bunch of sponsored links to position those links to the top of your list, and they’ll throw in a smattering of ads that have nothing to do with anything based on the data they’ve stolen from you as you move around the web. If that previous paragraph sounds cynical, it’s because it’s the truth in these very weird times. Google’s new approach to search, as I understand it, is going to be something completely different.
