Families and friends gathered to watch their loved ones walk across the stage as they received their degree after years of hard work. The graduates and their friends and families started noticing the announced names did not match the person walking across the stage. The chyron on the live feed was showing the wrong names. Swaths of the list of the graduates were being skipped. College president Tiffany Hernandez took to the podium to announce the college was using a new AI system to announce the names of the students and was having technical difficulties. That’s right, instead of a group of human beings taking turns reading the names of the actual graduates into a microphone, the college opted to spend a bunch of money to have AI do it instead.
