Even after a solid decade spent with our faces firmly planted in the thoroughly miserable psychological taint of a prodigiously wealthy and powerful man, our assumption that wealth and power constitute "winning" (and their lack compels and justifies aggrieved discontent) will remain fully intact. Not a single nanometer of firm conviction will have been shaved off by this bitter experience.
