I took a bunch of time away from We Once Ruled Here, originally due to some irl stuff (holidays, etc) then travel, then other things… et cetera. I've finally gotten back to looking at it recently and I feel like I had a breakthrough in terms of a way to think about the game. If you missed it, We Once Ruled Here is a tabletop game that I'm writing. It's on version 0.6 as of yesterday, which means just about nothing on its own but I would say it's "rounding the corner" on being finished. I figured I'd use a post to sort of think out loud here. And to "post about game development", which I guess is a thing that some people do. design intentionalitySo, the game itself is split into four seasons — that hasn't changed. The core of the game is about writing stories, which is my new simpler term for what I had previously called 'myths' and 'legends' in the game.
